During his Friday episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Fox News host Tucker Carlson took a broad swipe at the Russia investigation’s legitimacy and suggested former FBI Director James Comey’s controversial testimony was, like the Russia investigation, a “means” to oust President Donald Trump from office.
“Make no mistake. Removing Trump from office was the goal,” Carlson said of Comey’s testimony. But Thursday’s testimony, Carlson contended, “failed” because Trump remains in the Oval Office.
According to Carlson, Comey’s highly-anticipated testimony regarding the Russia investigation couldn’t have been about the dangers imposed by possible Russian meddling.
But — Tucker suggested others might ask — doesn’t the Russia investigation have merit given the threat to democracy or prospect of collusion? No, because “nobody in D.C. actually believes any of that,” Carlson speculated.
Furthermore, the whole Russia controversy is a “hoax.”
In what sounded like a conspiracy theory, Carlson kept citing an unnamed “they,” “their,” and “somebody” who was trying to get Trump out of the White House through various means.
“First they tried racism, remember that?” Carlson asked without naming anyone in particular.
While Carlson pointed out that D.C. elite and progressives opposed Trump, he didn’t clarify who is actually behind this apparently mass conspiracy against the current president.
Carlson ominously concluded by asking: “America’s ruling class has gone crazy. Where will this end?”
